The various types of wool are categorized based on the type of animal that produces it.
There are many varieties, but the main ones are:
1. Merino wool :
Comes from Merino sheep. This is the least expensive and the most common type of wool.
2. Angora wool :
Produced by the long, fine coat of the Angora rabbit.
Made from the hair of the Angora goat. The have very long and soft hair.
4. Alpaca wool :
Produced from alpacas bred mainly in South America.
5. Shetland wool :
Made from Shetland sheep from the Shetland Isles in Northern Scotland. The fibres are downy and easy to knit.
1. Cashmere wool :
Made from the wool of cashmere goats from Kashmir, India. This is the most expensive type of wool on the market.
